- Centennial Leisure Centre. Just two doors along the block from The Poplars, the large, modern Leisure Centre offers swimming, lane swimming, a fun leisure pool, sauna, spa pools, steam room, and fitness centre. Entry is very reasonably priced, and most facilities are open in the evening.
- Cathedral Square. The heritage centre of Christchurch, the Cultural Precinct, is centred around Cathedral Square. Within a few blocks you can visit the Art Gallery, Museum, Botanic Gardens, Arts Centre, Cathedral and city centre.
- Christchurch Tramways’ historic trams run through the square and around a circuit through the central city, stopping at eleven points of interest. At night, you can eat on the restaurant tram as it cruises around the tram circuit.
- Punting on the Avon. The most romantic river ride in New Zealand! Cruise through Christchurch in a velvet-cushioned Edwardian Punt. This unique view of the city has two routes, City and Park.
- Christchurch Gondola. Take a gondola ride up to the top of the Port Hills to see Fantastic 360 degree views over the city, plains and Banks Peninsula.
- The Antarctic Centre is sited near the airport. This fantastic attraction is fun for all the family.
- Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. With a great collection of both native and exotic animals, Willowbank is also host to a breeding population of kiwis. Night tours of the park are available, with commentary on the native wildlife. The outdoor kiwi breeding area is unique in the world. Family Passes are available.
- Orana Wildlife Park, just outside the city at McLean’s Island, has a large collection of native and exotic animals, including giraffes and big cats.
- Up, Up and Away will take you high in the sky over the Canterbury Plains in a gently floating hot air balloon.
- Christchurch Aquarium
- Air Force Museum, Wigram. Historic aircraft displays.
- The Fudge Cottage: boutique handcrafted fudgemaking. Visit their shop and fudge kitchen at the Arts Centre. See, taste and buy!
